Full of places to visit for children of all ages, Ramsgate makes a fantastic destination for a family holiday. And with our accommodation so well placed, many activities are on your doorstep.
Below is a small selection of activities for kids. The area is jam-packed with fun things to do – come discover them for yourself!
There are plenty of Blue Flag beaches in the area, where you can be sure of safety, cleanliness and bucket loads of fun.
One such beach is Botany Bay, a stunning spot nestled among cliffs which provides photo opportunities aplenty. Here, the kids can let off steam building sand castles, running up and down the dunes or paddling in the water.
Ramsgate Main Sands is another Blue Flag beach. A kiosk on the beach sells buckets and spades for the little ones, and there’s a merry-go-round, trampolines and a bouncy castle to enjoy too. Deckchairs are available for those with more sedate activities in mind!
The UK’s original Pleasure Park has been re-imagined, ready to welcome a new generation of fun-seeking visitors to an ‘old fashioned, yet oh-so-fashionable’ world of thrills, amusements and good times.
There’ll be more than just brilliant retro rides and amusements. Dreamland will be a world where vintage cool holds hands with modern design, and goes for a lovely beachside stroll.
We are on a prominant location on the Margate seafront which is situated on the southeastern tip of Kent with excellent transport links from London and just a hop across the Channel from France.
What better place to head afterwards than Pelosi’s Ice Cream Parlour? In a pretty pink building just on the seafront, kids could wind down over an ice cream. And you’ll find every flavour under the sun here.
At Pinball Parlour on Addington St, there are 40 pinball machines to try your hand on. Some of them date back 75 years. It’s a perfect activity for youngsters… and the young at heart. www.pinballparlour.co.uk
MARGATE’S UNSOLVED MYSTERY
The extraordinary Shell Grotto in Margate is a must-visit. In 1835, while digging a hole in the ground, James Newlove uncovered a series of underground passages. They contained 4.6 million shells and 2000 sq ft of mosaic.
To this day, no one has unravelled the mystery of when it was made, or indeed why. Walk the passageways that lead to the decorative oblong chamber – and perhaps you can shed some light on this riddle.
Quex Park, in nearby Birchington, provides a great day out for the family. Wander the 15 acres of stunning gardens around Quex House or visit the Craft Village, watching artisans at work and buying some of their creations afterwards.
The highlight of Quex Park is the maize maze, a puzzling labyrinth waiting to be cracked,
Jungle Jims provides the largest Family Entertainment Centre in the area. Boasting 9.5 acres of fun-packed attractions for the whole family. Jungle Jim’s provide a fantastic indoor and outdoor play area for children achieving maximum fun in a clean, safe and secure family environment.
The large outdoor play area has swings, slides, a zip wire, and three adventure climbing frames, and lots of space to run around and let off steam.
